One of the truer parts of life seems to be that as we age, life becomes increasingly precious, a preciousness almost beyond words. With a smile, just look at baptisms. Parents, understandably, come to this sacrament with nap schedules and diaper changes largely front-and-center. And then there are grandparents.
Their faces show wonder. Show love. Often show tears. Their role is quieter – maybe just down to a beautiful witnessing.
There is always before us a new way towards faith. We take the steps that phase of life allows. We do the work that is ours to do. One way is not “better.” One phase not more blessed. They all somehow run together, somehow build on each other.
God asks of us just this … please just take the next step.
