Sometimes God is so clear….

We live in a world where we scan more than read.  So here is one to read.  Written in a book from the Bible, Isaiah, chapter 58, written several thousand years ago, it speaks to a new form of worship….

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousnessa] will go before you,
and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.

Emanuel Swedenborg, writing in the 1700′s follows the cue.  “A religion is valued more for its goodwill and faith, not for the rituals that accompany them.”  True Christianity, 660.

Beautiful words.  Plain.  And oh so clear.
